Fur~

Finally got a photograph of a wild animal down here on the beach that has FUR on it.. I know you are getting tired of all the birds, but there are soooo many new and cool birds down here on the coast..

Saw one of these running across the sand dune a week or so back.. but as hot as the sand gets.. it is no wonder you don’t see them much.. This day was a cool(er) day after Hurricane Alex passed by and we spotted an adult spotted ground squirrel and when I stopped to take a photo of it.. this baby stood up to see what was happening.. talk about an adorable little creature… it reminded me of a meerkat.. and now I know what the coyote eat.. I didn’t think they survived on seafood and garbage alone..

Ground Hogs Day

We don’t have ground hogs here in the West.. so today I am posting photos of some of their distant relatives..

But our weather doesn’t look anything like the photos above.. it looks more like the photo below.. and I would guess if one of these furry little rodents sticks it’s head our of the snow.. It will have a big surprise waiting for it.. ~ A not so friendly/hungry surprise..

Monday Morning Memories Take 3 ~The great escape!!

After hours of trying to capture a good photo of a pheasant in the snow, I learned the valuble lesson that anyone who has ever persued these fast flying, fast running birds already knows. They just don't stand there and pose. Although this is not how I invisioned the perfect shot, Catching the irredescent colors of this cock pheasant in motion against a simple winter background turned out to be my favorite thus far.

Frigid

Here in Northwestern Wyoming spring has arrived in all its glory. The thermometer reads 24 degrees, there is a fresh dusting of snow on the ground and yes, once again the wind is blowing. Glory you say, that doesn’t sound like glory. Well if you look closely, you will see the glory and beauty in this rugged and unforgiving country. An early spring snow may temporarily stall the arrival of the grasses and slow the budding of the trees, but it will not stall the coming of the mountain blue bird.
