No camera or editing tricks with this photo.. just very fortunate to be in the right place at the right time.

Some would argue that these photos would have been more appropriately posted around Halloween. But, I chose them today for Skywatch Friday. If you watch the sky in the Fall, I am sure you have seen these highly intelligent and playful birds as they sour, dip, dive and play on the wind. I have a soft spot for raven’s, I have not been brain washed nor swayed by television horror flicks, but I have spent many hours in the forests observing these mischievous birds. I love the way they interact and communicate with each other. If you have the time to “get to know” any of these birds you will be fascinated by their abilities, and over all charm.
Hoping you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and hold in your minds and hearts all that you have to be thankful for in the months to come.

The object of many myths and legends, this bird is highly intelligent, fairly social toward humans, and can sometimes seem downright arrogant in his bold behavior. The Raven can be found in many creation stories throughout history, including the bible, in which it says that Noah sent a raven off after the floods to see if the waters had gone down. The raven never returned.
Yet they are still here, so my guess would be that he probably found Alaska.
Stories of this bird, good and bad, can be found throughout the world.
However, to the native people of Alaska, the Raven plays an important role and I was honored to photograph this bird while there.
