Reddish Egret
Well it seems that the bird I was asking about in my last post is called a reddish egret… Never would of guessed that one.. lol.. not a speck of “reddish” on it.. but I was lucky enough to get a photograph of one of the Reddish Egrets that they get their name from..
Watching Hurricane Alex closely.. sounds like the main part of the storm will make land south of here.. but Corpus Chrisit (where we are currently staying) is expecting some pretty good rain fall (8-12 inches) from the edges of the storm.. and possible power outages.. they have closed most of the beach roads and issued a voluntary evacuation for South Padre Island.. Rained here all night last night, but as of yet.. no wind..
and the black feet that gave it away..

Worried here about the Alex storm, please keep us posted and no beach combing for you young lady. Listen to mama, lol.
Beautiful photos! I enjoy the egret we have in this area. A flock of the were in the tall green grass last year. came home to get my camera, rushed back down and snapped off a few photos. Such a long distance they were not real special. Scared the birds by going closer and off the went! Once in a while we will get a white egret in the reek here, but it is rare. Green Heron, everyday as we have a pair that live some where close by.
Have a good day Stacey, and just to let you know once again, love the music on this website! Love you, too….Maggs <3
Beautiful reddish egret picture Stacey! I had never seen it and it looks like it’s a wonderful bird..
Love egrets! Especially how they walk … and how they take wing. Such graceful, noble looking creatures! Guessing you were safe from Alex, as I am reading your posts backwards. Whew!
