Blending in

Cold weather is hard on even the most dedicated survivors in the natural world. For the Coyote, winters can be very long indeed. Food is scarce and low temperatures drive smaller creatures that the coyote uses for food deep into their burrows and dens. The coyote is very adapt at making do, no matter where they roam. From the largest cities to the farthest reaches of the wilderness, these song dogs thrive where others would surely perish. They are prolific breeders and can live in packs of as many as ten.. generally they hunt alone of in smaller groups of two or three. My hat is off to the Coyote today, they bring us lonesome chorus among the wild places we share with them. And the coyote reminds us that when times are tough, quitting is never an option. True survivors sing loudly to the heavens and embrace life no matter what should befall them.

I have memories from my childhood – of listening to the little ones yipping in the fields and bushes beyond our small farmhouse. I would be so snug and warm, sharing a bed with my sister. I would say "Trish, listen!" And she would elbow me.. ha ha ha.

    Hi Stacey,
Wonderful picture but I guess winter is harsh for every single organism, even on us, especially when there is a lot of snow and that it's cold!!!

Beautiful picture of the coyotes. Been looking for pictures of all kinds of wild life to put into photo albums for my grandkids so they can take to school and show them to their teacher and class mates for show and tell. The show and tell is in march. Just want to be prepared for it.

Thanks for the reminder that they too do what they need to do to survive. We sometimes never think of that when they've done the damage they've done.

A very nice shot and a suitable title. We don't have coyotes here in Sweden, but we still have wolves, even though the human doesn't make life easy for them…

Hi, Stacey! It's been quite awhile since I've been by. I love the photo of the coyote. Unfortunately the ones here are not admired. Every time one comes into contact with someone's cat or small dog, the authorities want to hunt it down and kill it. I feel bad for the coyotes here because they are hungry and getting pushed out of their remaining habitat due to the white man's increasing greed.
