Dog Pile

Our connection to the creatures who inhabit the lonely wild places is rooted deep in our psyche. We as humans seem to come together even when there is no proven connection or reason for the joining. However a further examination of our need, or rather desire, to be with others of our kind is most likely some primal instinct. These finely honed instincts would have allowed for our ancestors to merge with other wanderers to form tribes and later societies, for the protection of each individual. The animal kingdom is no different, these coyotes have joined each other in the harsh winter months. Strength in numbers will allow these hearty predators the opportunity to hunt as a team, and the added teeth and claws of the group will make larger predators like wolves think twice before giving chase. I wonder as I study these resting warriors, if my ancestors may have rested in the snows of long ago, confident in the brotherhood watching their backside for danger.
As the snow falls around me I hear the song dogs speaking to their brothers, and through the haze of falling flakes I glimpse the ghosts of ancient brothers moving silently together, like fog slipping through a snow covered forest they merge with their surroundings. I know they were probably never there at all, but the coyotes stop for a moment and sniff at the place where they disappeared, igniting the wonder in me tenfold as the snow silently falls.

We would like to once again say Thank you to all who have and continue to stop by. The responce has been over whelming.
For the many whom have asked about and complimented my blog theme, I would love to say that I did this, but alas, I am not nearly so talented. A fellow blogger, Klaus from Virtua Gallery is the genius behind this beautiful custom blog design.

I have a soft spot for coyotes and this photo touched my heart. It makes me wonder are their stomachs full, are they warm enough, will they survive the winter. I loved reading these words and examining the connection you mentioned.

Four Song Dogs and they looke so cuddly but I am sure they would show this characteristic if I stepped forth. Wonder what they call one another? I love Hawks words and could almost picture myself there with the snow falling around me. I sure do need one of those cameras. Come over and stroll the park with me the next few days. If I had had your talent, I could have gotten some great shots. Peace

Deep. You are right though. Humans are definitely travel in packs for the most part. We work with our packs and fight within our packs. Our packs are our family, our friends and our coworkers. They help us survive the challenges of life, even now, when we worry less about surviving in the snow overnight, and more about driving through it in the morning.
Thank you so much for commenting on my blog! :) I had actually been trying to decide on a good music player, and ended out using the site that yours is from since it plays so well. (I love your musical selection, btw.)

Congratulations on your recognition. The pictures are great. Funny you should make the comment about ‘brotherhood’ of the animals. I often think that our behaviors, belongings, longings are all learned or passed on through the evolution. That six degree of seperation thing…..!
