Monday Morning Memories Take 3 ~The great escape!!
After hours of trying to capture a good photo of a pheasant in the snow, I learned the valuble lesson that anyone who has ever persued these fast flying, fast running birds already knows. They just don't stand there and pose. Although this is not how I invisioned the perfect shot, Catching the irredescent colors of this cock pheasant in motion against a simple winter background turned out to be my favorite thus far.

Here in Northwestern Wyoming spring has arrived in all its glory. The thermometer reads 24 degrees, there is a fresh dusting of snow on the ground and yes, once again the wind is blowing. Glory you say, that doesn’t sound like glory. Well if you look closely, you will see the glory and beauty in this rugged and unforgiving country. An early spring snow may temporarily stall the arrival of the grasses and slow the budding of the trees, but it will not stall the coming of the mountain blue bird. This little guy has returned to this mountain side ...

Wonderful shots! That eye is amazing. I love bison. Before moving provinces, we used to pass a herd almost every time we visited my parents, and I’d thrilled every time.
Mind you, these were part of a bison co-op and meant for food, but it’s not like you can domesticate a bison.
A.
Wow, can’t believe how close you got to this bison.
Stacey
I love your series on perspectives. I think a good wildlife photography is seeing new ways to see the same animal over and over. You have done it. I was going to the Art Venture luncheon two months ago and passed a farm that had these magnificient beast in their field. How I wanted to drive up their driveway and ask if I could take pictures. Peace
3 fabulous shots, great details
That IS close! Wonderful shots. Nothing goes over making eye contact.
Cheers, Klaus
Great series Stacey!
I certainly hope you took those with a zoom lens…or at least a sturdy fence between you and buffalo. You all have snow already?
We just had our first light frost here.
Stacey: Wonderful job of showing all your different parts of the Bison.
Well, I’ll add your advice of “make eye contact” to my toolbox…
These three photos are amazing — I get completely blown-away with your work every time I stop by…
the bison is sad and beautiful
love the bison images I hope to find some in our local area I would love to capture them.
Awwww-sum!!! I’m still on jury duty but I’m so glad I had a chance to do a little catch up on your blog this morning.
Hi dear Stacey, I’ve been looking through all your past posts that I’ve missed. Running so far behind with work.
I could not believe the calm power in the bison photos here. These are the most astounding photos of bison I’ve ever seen. I think of me they are more dramatic in that they are only the eyes, the horn, and the head. There is something very haunting and primordial about the bison eye photo. A bit like looking into the eye of ALL TIME!
I also thought that deer reflection where you see only one deer but two reflections. THAT is mythical…the stuff of myths and magic. Your photos have always tended to be ethereal as I’ve mentioned before, BUT I have to tell you, that they are recently becoming even MORE so.
The photo with only an edge of deer on the side of the photos had the same mythical quality. Just astounding. It’s like you are expressing a deeper part of yourself. I can’t really explain it but the photos are becoming more
elusive and haunting and otherwordly. Incredible Stacey.
Sending hugs and love,
Robin
