This is a photo of a local land mark “Heart Mountain”
This is a very unique mountain, as the rock found in it is estimated to be 350-500 million years old, yet the dirt that is sits on is only 55 million years old.
I have read many theories as to how this rock ended up where it now sits.. and most are centered around volcanoes.
But all I know is I am very glad that I was not around to see it.
Have a beautiful day today people.. take a moment to see and appreciate what nature had put there for us all~
~Even the smallest creatures stop to enjoy a great view~

This little reservoir used to be full of large mouth bass, sunfish, blue gill hybrid, trout and grass carp.. so we came with fishing poles and appetites, for I have never had blue gill. We were disappointed to find that the reservoir was virtually void of all game fish, and the only carp we saw were rotting in the shallows along the shore. But all was not lost on this trip we had brought along the canoes and still enjoyed a wonderful weekend spent with family, and the reeds along this little lake were full and alive with nesting birds, geese, red winged blackbirds, grebe, and mud ducks just to name a few. The lighting was perfect for photos... [SEE MORE]

These last few weeks of morning frost have transformed the landscape, shades of orange red and yellow illuminate the forest. A ring of ice along the clear streams announces winter is not far off. The bugle of a bull elk echoes through the clear mountain air as a V of Canada geese slides gracefully through a blue cloudless sky. Squirrels busy themselves with collecting enough cones to fend off starvation through the long cold of winter months. Whitetail deer shed their red summer coats and don the warmer grey winter hair. This time or year is truly magical. Nature slowly dies off and prepares for a long rest before beginning anew all over... [SEE MORE]

Once again I have created a monthly desktop calendar~ but this month I chose to give my viewers an option of the Wild Mustang photo or a flock of Turkeys in North West Wyoming. Last month I gave away over 50 calendars to my viewers.. as you can imagine, checking email accounts and sending them out became quite time consuming and with the additional calendar option this month, I was concerned that I would miss someone or send out the wrong one… sooo With this new web page, I am now able to upload the calendars to the site and those of you who wish to have one can simply download them yourself.. no waiting for me to find your requests in... Feathers slice through clear cold air directly overhead, nearly silent, in the early dawn among quietly falling snowflakes. I am always amazed by the movements of the natural world and the creatures who inhabit our planet. From the majestic hawk to the vole scurrying underfoot, nature moves with a rhythm and grace we as humans have become far removed from. As I stand in the forest soaking up all the sights, sounds, smells and majesty of it all, I am reminded of my place in this never ending spiral of life. Bright red tail feathers contrast sharply with the grey tree limbs and white blanket of new fallen snow as the hawk slips through the... [SEE MORE]
